First, let me introduce myself,

My name is Lisa Fyffe,

I am the founder and Managing Director of Ripe Horticulture & The Avocado Academy.

I have been an Avocado Agronomist for nearly 20 years. I am also an Avocado and Macadamia grower, based in Bundaberg, Qld in Australia.

After 5 years of dry conditions,

Our growing region has recently suffered 2 years of heavy rainfall.

This has highlighted the areas where we became complacent around

Phytophthora prevention.

Basically we had 5 years of dry conditions and our priorities had been more around irrigation, water security and nutrition!

The level of phytophthora was low, but it was there.

Like a sleeping giant, just waiting to be woken up.

And it was-

So I decided I would track, detail and video our experience.

How to bring trees back to health and productivity....fast!

Our aim was to bring trees back to being fruitful in one season.

It was ambitious, and somewhat successful.

On this journey, I have showcased what we did on our farm,

What we did well and where we could improve.

I then decided to turn our learnings into a training course,

as a way to help farmers work out how they can apply these concepts to their farm.
